2,000 year document

So, not much different going on here. I had a really hard couple of weeks as I'm realizing that a lot of the people I'm with in the army are just a complete waste of space. Some of them are great, but the others just ruin it all. So it was pretty bad, but had a weekend off which was nice, but I'm already dreading going back. The most interesting thing that happened to me recently was two weeks ago. I was in Jerusalem and went to the Israel Museum as they have on display for the first time part of the Isaih scroll which is part of the Dead Sea scrolls. http://www.english.imjnet.org.il/HTMLs/article2.aspx?c0=12807&bsp=12644&bss933=12807
Basically the Isaih scroll was found complete and is 2,000 years old. Usually they only have a photo copy out as it is so valuable, but now they put out a few pages (i didn't realize that it would only be a few pages until I got there, but oh well), but it was still cool nonetheless. The pieces shown were full pages without anything missing. It's amazing that something so old could be preserved so well. I have a book that I just bought that is now completely ruined after putting it in my backpack....
Other than that, my life is still not at all exciting.

Hey David,

I don't have your email, so I'm leaving a comment here. I was talking to an Israeli friend of mine recently, and she was telling me how she had worked teaching english to new olim in the army. She said that something that they don't appreciate is how proud it makes israelis to see olim doing the army.

She said that often, Israelis are a little tired and bitter about the army, and when they see people making the choice to serve, it makes them remember how proud they should be of a country that has people volunteering to come defend it, and how much they should appreciate their chance to serve that country. I thought I should pass that along to you - that it really means a lot to israelis to see you in the army. Hopefully you're enjoying it more lately.

What is your email address? Email me at sribnick *at* gmail
