I voted!

After long internal debate and going back and forth, I made a literal last minute decision on my vote. The debate has been long going and changed many times. Here is how it goes:
I wanted right wing more security wise and left wing economically. They don't always go hand in hand. I actually liked a lot of what Avigdor Liberman's party Yisrael Beiteinu believed in. I mean I liked a lot of what he said, but decided long ago that he himself is scary so I couldn't vote for him. I would probably like some of Likud, but don't' like Bibi. Then I decided upon 4 possible options, ranging across the political spectrum. They were
1)Habayit Hayehudi- I liked them mainly for one reason. I feel these are the true Zionists. I'm not saying other people can't be and that everybody has their own opinion of what Zionism is, but they I feel most truly care about the country deep down. They are religious, but are very welcoming of other (at least in my opinion). These are the type of people I served with in the army. Lets put it this way to show their Zionism. I heard a radio commentary by some left wing guy who would never vote for them, but decided to. He said that he was very mad with them a couple of years ago during the dissengagement from Gaza and they were protesting it. Yet now, just 2 years later when we were just in Gaza again, these same group of people were dying in disproportionate numbers of the soldiers. Which this means that despite them being very against what the army did, they are still the ones serving in the Combat units. This especially when everybody is trying to avoid the army....especially combat. Basically in short, its very impressive on their part and just shows despite what happened, they truly care.
2)Kadima- I actually don't like the party itself too much (maybe that's due to Olmert or maybe not), but Tzipi Livni has seemed pretty impressive to me. She is a very serious person and for the most part seems without corruption (at least as of yet), which is pretty rare in politics. But I wasn't leaning heavily toward her as I think they are too left for me.
3)One of the green parties (environmental). At first (and of this morning) I decided on maybe the new green party.I'm not sure why. I think I had the same problem like most people that liked these parties. They couldn't tell the difference between them. OH well. The new one seemed new and upcoming and maybe they could do something that the other couldn't. At the same time, they should have teamed together instead of splitting their votes....
4)Last but not least...wait for my explanation before judging....The marijuana party. The only reason I was maybe going to give them my vote, was because they teamed up with the Holocaust Survivors party. They were both using each other for their own gain. I found out that there are about 200,000 Holocaust survivors here in Israel and 80,000 live under the poverty line! This is an embarrassment to this country. These people should be living in resorts. I mean, how much time could they possibly have left. To have gone through the Holocaust and then come to a Jewish state and live the last years of their lives in poverty?! I think its a disgrace to the country. So I was going to give them my vote, but in the end I figured there are other things that could be done instead and there are other pressing matters. sorry.

So I was basically ready to vote for the new green party or the right wing religious one. Half an hour before I went to vote, I realized that the green party is too left wing for me. They want to give up the Golan Heights to Syria! Ok, I can understand people wanting to do stuff with the West Bank/Gaza, etc., but the Golan! There is no need and will only be problems for us later. And its one of the most beautiful places! So I decided last minute to throw my vote to the regular green party. They also have an agreement with Kadima that if they don't pass the required number of votes needed, they give their votes over to Kadima (which will probably happen). I'd rather them give to a right wing party, but oh well. So my vote wont' completely "go to waste".
I actually want in general a right wing government, all except two reasons. The first is that I'm not a big fan of Nentanyahu and more importantly, they will be in a coalition with Shas. A very right wing Charedi group who ruin education and everything else they touch...They are quite bad.
Oh well. Most importantly....I VOTED!!!!!!!!!

On a side note. The way voting works, is that you go behind a cardboard shield and there is a bunch of little notes with different names of parties on them. You find your party you want, put it in an envelope and then bring it over to a ballot box and deposit. That's it. Pretty simple. No computer, filling in bubbles, hanging chads, etc. I guess people can accidentally put in more than one, and I don't think it counts. Unless they are for the same party and then the obviously count only one.

I read an article that many Israeli's were expected to make the decision literally at the polls. A very complicated race. Interesting to hear your thoughts on it.

VERY COOL photo too...you should submit to the something.
